The 2 trees in the Garden of Eden

Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
Genesis 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

In Genesis 2:17 God gave a warning to man, not to partake the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Because the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil uplifts the human soul and suppresses the spirit. When man partakes of this fruit, man's soul life will be stimulated and his spirit life will be stifled. This means man will lose the true knowledge of God and thus be dead to Him. The knowledge of good and evil will puff up the soul life and consequently deflates the spirit life to the point of losing any knowledge of God, to the point of becoming as much as dead.

However, the tree of life is different. This is eternal life, God's nature, His uncreated life. This tree germinates spiritual life. When we partake of this tree, we become partaker of God's divine nature.

(From Watchman Nee - The Spiritual Man)

Thus man has to make a choice: either to choose the tree of life or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

"While we are free to choose our actions, we are not free to choose the consequences of our actions.” (Stephen R. Covey)

  1. A book is made from a Tree. Books contains knowledge and have leaves. This book contains knowledge of good and bad. The Book is the Bible, and that is the book we are reading from. So what is the fruit in this book. A cross is made from a tree. Jesus was nailed to a tree.
    The tree bears Jesus.

Jesus is the fruit from the New Testament.

God say do not eat, don't take in, the fruit from the Tree. God says don't eat Jesus.

  2. In the next verse God tells us exactly who Satan is. Your not going to like this either.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that god had made. So it began to say to the women: "Is it really so that God said you must not eat from every tree of the garden?"

God says a snake is a wild beast. Most of us know that a snake is a reptile and not a beast. A beast is a mammal. Is God confused. Or is he having a senior moment. No, he isn't. He is saying the snake is really a mammal that talks. Of all of the mammals only man can talk. So Satan is really a man. We now have 3 people in the garden. Next how do snakes deceive us? We think the snake is a stick until it moves. The stick talks. What we have is a man with characteristics of a stick. Does this sound familiar. The Church talks from the Cross. A cross is a stick. Satan is the Roman Catholic Church.

Satan says: "Is it really so that God said you must not eat from every tree of the garden?"

Satan knows what God said. Now how does Satan know what God had to say? He read the Old Testament.

He reached that milestone yesterday when he was called to the Bar during a mass ceremony at Nanyang Technological University. A eagle story

Got this story from an email and find it very meaningful. Please read on ... There is a story about a little eagle that fell out of its nest and landed in a turkey farm. The eagle grew up among the turkeys and, although he looked a bit different, he learned to waddle like a turkey, bob his head like a turkey, and act like a turkey. One day the young eagle looked up into the sky and saw a beautiful eagle soaring above. The little eagle in the turkey yard thought, Oh, I would love to be able to do that! As the eagle soared overhead, it looked down and saw the young eagle below. Suddenly it swooped down to the ground and asked, "What are you doing here?" The little eagle replied, "I am just here in the turkey yard where I have always been." The great eagle looked and said, "Spread your wings, boy. You do just what I do. Follow me." Then he flapped his wings and lifted off the ground. The young eagle tried it, too. "Wheeee! This is all right!" "...

Loving one another

1 John 4:20b. .. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. The above verse is a very good reminder.   We need to love not only in words but in deeds. Just visited a brother who was sick.  He could not come for the church meeting as his sickness has handicapped him.  But praise God, I saw the love of the brothers and sisters who take turn to care for him.  To fetch him to the meeting hall and also to read the bible with him.  By so doing, they have strengthened his faith. 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. I have read from a blog on how to care for one another: First Thing Is Prayer If you really love your neighbor, the first thing you will do is pray for them. As a human you are li...
