Hearing God (silent retreat)....Part 5

Genesis 1:20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”
Genesis 1:21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
Genesis 1:23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
Genesis 1:24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. Genesis 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

This is a beautiful picture. When I read this portion, I am excited. It seemed that the whole creation is coming alive, it is buzzling with lives and activities under the creative power of God. The whale which is the largest of fishes are remarkable proofs of the power and greatness of our Creator. Look at the ants! They are just fascinating, telling us that though our God is so big and mighty, yet He give attention to little insect like the ant. We were also exhorted to learn from the “ant” in the book of Proverbs. Furthermore, God gave them the blessing : Be fruitful and multiply. He is the one who set in motion the fruitfulness of His Creation.

Similarly, God is also drawing such a beautiful picture out of our life. Our life should be so lively and fruitful, as the Lord said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”. John 10:10b

  1. Cool ! All things created glorify God. Even things we can't see with our naked eyes. The humble potato, the earthworm, the ground nuts, carrots, petroleum, coal, tin, copper, precious gems - all under the ground.

3Ds - Declutter, Detox & Debug

Just learnt these 3 words in a seminar - De-clutter, De-tox, De-bug In order to hear God clearly, I need to constantly apply these 3Ds in my life:- 1) De-clutter Most of the times I have a hard time to discard things and I tend to keep them and then forgot about them.  Things get piled out and it does affect my search for important things.  Likewise, I also have many ungodly thoughts that can clutter my thought and keep me from hearing God.  It takes times to de-clutter and I need God to show me what it is that is hidden, which He desires for me to discard, so that there is a room to hear His voice. 2)  De-tox Toxic attitudes & behaviors that I allow into my life affects my hearing and has impact on my walk with God.  There are many lies that the enemy has planted in my thought life and this can impact my relationship with God. I need to discern and identif...

Changed Basket

Someone shared a beautiful story with me today. Passing it on: Why do we read bible even if we can't understand or remember ???? An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa woke up early sitting at the kitchen table reading the bible. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson  asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bible  do?" The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water." The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river wit...
