Hearing God (silent retreat)....Part 2

After I have invited God into my life through that one prayer which was made more than 20 years ago, the first thing that is wrought in my soul is light. God said let there be light. There is an enlightenment in my understanding which never had before.

As I continue reading, verse 4 : And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then I was curious and I asked Him, why is there still darkness? I was brought to look at my own situation. Isn't darkness still in me, some dark moments in my life: my pride, my selfish desires, failures and hidden sins and many others. God just made a distinction, I believe he allows it there for a purpose. He just divided them. I recalled when I have sinned against Him and was far from Him, I learn to come back to Him, learn to walk by faith and cling to His promises. Sometimes He hid himself so that I will learn to search for Him in His Word. It is in this dark moment, that I learn to let go, and let God be God. Truth which is told is quick to be forgotten but truth in His word got engrafted into our being through dark moments when we cannot even trust ourselves, when we are utterly helpless and hopeless. It is only then we exercise faith to cling to His promises and apply them and these are the truths that will last a life time. As we emerge from darkness, we begin to appreciate the beauty of light and true worship of who He is actually begins.

3Ds - Declutter, Detox & Debug

Just learnt these 3 words in a seminar - De-clutter, De-tox, De-bug In order to hear God clearly, I need to constantly apply these 3Ds in my life:- 1) De-clutter Most of the times I have a hard time to discard things and I tend to keep them and then forgot about them.  Things get piled out and it does affect my search for important things.  Likewise, I also have many ungodly thoughts that can clutter my thought and keep me from hearing God.  It takes times to de-clutter and I need God to show me what it is that is hidden, which He desires for me to discard, so that there is a room to hear His voice. 2)  De-tox Toxic attitudes & behaviors that I allow into my life affects my hearing and has impact on my walk with God.  There are many lies that the enemy has planted in my thought life and this can impact my relationship with God. I need to discern and identif...

God is watching

I heard this true story during one of our home meeting. I find this story very touching and decided to put it in my blog as an encouragement to those who are faithfully taking care of their loved one. You are not alone, God is watching our every action. A sister in china shared that while her husband was in coma, she read some scriptures from the new testament to him daily and after each reading, she will pat her husband on his shoulder and say "amen" on his behalf. She did this faithfully for ten years. One day, while doing the regular reading, she suddenly heard a loud "Amen" and it came from none other but her husband. God has honoured our sister by showing mercy to her husband and while he was still in coma, his spirit is still very much alive. It is a good reminder to me not to belittle what we are doing for others. When we have a heart, God will show mercy to those whom we are praying and taking care.
