HEART DISEASE

Just read a book on the Bible Cure for Heart Disease by Don Colbert, M.D. and would like to share how you can improve your heart condition by making changes to your diet.

First, you can make an effort to decrease or avoid fried foods, red meats, hot dogs and other cured meats. Also reduce the intake of eggs, high fat diary products, butter, cream, lard and other saturated fats.

Finally, cut back and then eliminate high-sugar foods, including ice-cream, pies, cakes, cookies, candies, white bread, processed foods, refined cereals, chips and other chip-like snack foods, salty foods and soft drinks.

Sometimes, we begin to ask, then what do I eat?

There are all kinds of wonderful things to add to your diet in the process! Eat primarily fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Also enjoy lean meats such as chicken breast, turkey breast and fish (but remember to peel the skins off the chicken and turkey). Using extra-virgin olive oil or canola oil instead of other vegetable oils also benefits your health. They contain oleic acid, which is a form of fatty acid much less prone to being damaged by free radicals.

A high-fiber diet can really help you beat heart disease. That's because fiber helps bind the bad cholesterol so it is excreted through the colon. Omega-3 fatty acids such as fish oil also lower the levels of triglycerides and the LDL cholesterol.

Take foods that are rich in magnesium and potassium. These two minerals are extremely important in the healthy functioning of the cardiovascular system. Magnesium is found primarily in seeds, nuts, whole grains and green leafy vegetables. Magnesium dilates the coronary arteries, improving blood flow and oxygen to the heart. It also prevents arrhythmia. Potassium is found in raw vegetables, fruits especially citrus fruits, bananas and avocados, potatoes and dandelion greens.

CLAIM GOD'S PROMISE : You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will keep you healthy. Exodus 23:25

3Ds - Declutter, Detox & Debug

Just learnt these 3 words in a seminar - De-clutter, De-tox, De-bug In order to hear God clearly, I need to constantly apply these 3Ds in my life:- 1) De-clutter Most of the times I have a hard time to discard things and I tend to keep them and then forgot about them.  Things get piled out and it does affect my search for important things.  Likewise, I also have many ungodly thoughts that can clutter my thought and keep me from hearing God.  It takes times to de-clutter and I need God to show me what it is that is hidden, which He desires for me to discard, so that there is a room to hear His voice. 2)  De-tox Toxic attitudes & behaviors that I allow into my life affects my hearing and has impact on my walk with God.  There are many lies that the enemy has planted in my thought life and this can impact my relationship with God. I need to discern and identif...

ASK, SEEK & KNOCK

Below is a sharing by a christian friend:- ASK: I got up early one morning & rushed right into the day. I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray. Problems just tumbled about me and heavier came each task;'Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered. He said,"But you didn't ask." I wanted to see joy & beauty but the day toiled on, gray & bleak; I wondered why God didn't show me. He said,"But you didn't seek." I tried to come into God's presence; I used all my keys at the lock. God gently & lovingly chided "My child, you didn't knock," I woke up this morning and paused before entering the day. I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.  My friend's experience reminded me of a quote by Martin Luther :  “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.”
