A eagle story

Got this story from an email and find it very meaningful. Please read on ... There is a story about a little eagle that fell out of its nest and landed in a turkey farm. The eagle grew up among the turkeys and, although he looked a bit different, he learned to waddle like a turkey, bob his head like a turkey, and act like a turkey. One day the young eagle looked up into the sky and saw a beautiful eagle soaring above. The little eagle in the turkey yard thought, Oh, I would love to be able to do that! As the eagle soared overhead, it looked down and saw the young eagle below. Suddenly it swooped down to the ground and asked, "What are you doing here?" The little eagle replied, "I am just here in the turkey yard where I have always been." The great eagle looked and said, "Spread your wings, boy. You do just what I do. Follow me." Then he flapped his wings and lifted off the ground. The young eagle tried it, too. "Wheeee! This is all right!" "

Ego was returned to SPCA

Finally we decided to return Ego to SPCA after my mum-in-law was down with Herpes Zoster. Cleanliness and taking care of her is our No. 1 priority. Although my daughters were sad but we have to make the decision to return her to SPCA. However, taking care of her for the past two months is an experience, and also a commitment.

Only 1 year experience

I love to hear stories that motivate me and I also love to share them with friends .... There were two teachers in a school and one of them was promoted. The one who was not promoted was unhappy with the school's decision because she had worked in the school for more than 25 years whereas the other teacher has only worked for 10 years. Definitely there was a mistake, she felt. She decided to confront the principal. However the principal corrected her that she did not have 25 years of experience but only 1 year of experience but repeated 25 times. Doesn't it sound familar?

Learning to speak God's language - from a book by Joyce Meyer

I am amazed by this sentence ie. talk to your mountain and not talk about your mountain. And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him - Mark 11:22,23. God's Word instructs us to talk to the mountain as described in Jesus' words in the above passage. Many times we love to talk about our problem instead of speaking to the problem and rebuking it in Jesus' name. This morning, the staff nurse called my husband and informed that my mother-in-law was getting restless and a bit violent. She banged the table and wanted to hit the nurse also. They decided to tie her to the bed. I also receive the same call. Sensing the urgency, I quickly packed my bag and after getting a packet of her favorite kway teow noodle, I headed to the ward with my maid. Upon reaching the ward, I l

A Pain in the Foot

This real example is extracted from a book titled "Me and My Big Mouth" by Joyce Meyer. One afternoon I was lying in bed studying, when I suddenly got a pain in my foot. I have a bunion, and occasionally it will flare up and hurt. When the pain struck my foot, I said, "I rebuke this pain, in the name of Jesus. By His stripes I am healed. By the power of His blood I am made whole, and I will not have this pain." Instantly there came another pain. Again I said, "In the name of Jesus, I am healed and made whole." It seemed like a dueling match. I would say something positive out of the Word of God, and the pain would strike me again. I thought, "I don't care if I have to lie here and say this all day, I am going to win." I said out loud, "I am healed by the stripes of Jesus. This pain has to leave." I lay there on my bed, and everytime the pain would hit me, I would hit the devil with the Word of God. Pretty soon the pain quit

Herpes Zoster - My mother-in-law contracted it at age 83!!

Herpes zoster (shingles) is a painful, blistering skin rash due to acute infection with the varicella-zoster virus, the virus that causes chickenpox. This disease is much common in adults over 60 years old due to weakened immunity. The chinese termed this as “snake”. Before the disease become full-fledge, we noticed small little red dots on my mother-in-law’s thigh and stomach. She complained of itchiness. The doctor prescribed anti-itch medicine and also some soothing ointment. However, after a period of a month, we noticed that the red patches are becoming more obvious with some big blisters in certain area, which I later learnt from the doctor that the virus is residing in certain nerves. My mother in law complained of ache and shooting pain on one side of her leg. I learnt that after we get chickenpox, the virus falls asleep or becomes dormant in certain nerves in the body. Shingles occurs after the virus becomes reactive in these nerves after many years. The likely reaso

Carrots, Eggs & Coffee

Carrots, Eggs & Coffee Got this from a friend via email and find it worthwhile to keep as a reminder and to share with others. A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again. A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up, She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Tur

Daily Rules from God

I found the following rules meaningful so decided to safeguard in my blog as a reminder to myself. Hope it is of help to you. Daily Rules from God. 1. Wake Up!! Decide to have a good day. "Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24 2. Dress Up!! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7 3. Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3 4. Stand Up!!... For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportun

Ego is still active after sterilization

Not long after her sterilisation, she was back to her usual self. Jumping and pouncing on objects and people walking around. I was told that sterilized pets are quieter and have fewer behavioural problems but it is not so for Ego. She is not pretty, is she? I only noticed that her cry is now lower. I read a leaflet from SPCA which states that theoretically a single female cat (with all her female offspring reproducing freely as they mature) takes just seven years to be the source of 20,000 new kittens. Wow that is a huge population of cats if it is uncontrolled!!

Ego was on heat - Prior to sterilization

When ego reached 4 months old, we realised her odd behavior. She no longer pounced and jumped but each time she would roll on the floor and waiting for you to caress her. She cried every night for attention. Actually she is looking for a mate? Just then we realised that she has an appointment for sterilization. She seemed to mature very fast. This procedure although routine is still a major surgery. The night before, no food or water can be given to her from 9.00pm onwards. Next morning before 9am we were already at a clinic and we collected her around 4pm on the same day. Sterilization involves the removing of the ovaries and uterus via the abdomen area. The term is called ovario hysterectomy. After sterilization, I suppose it must be very painful, cos I see a small vertical cut on her abdomen, (she was shaved) she cried softly as if looking for us to show pity. The vet told us she must be kept very quiet otherwise complications may occur eg. internal bleeding, hernia, an

Ego went for her 1st vaccination

Ego has completed her 1st vaccination at SPCA. It was time to bring her for her second vaccination. Transporting a kitten can be very challenging. She didn't like to be moved about ... meowing all the way.... It is good to invest in a pet carrier for transportation purpose. After we brought her for her 2nd vaccination, she was very quiet upon returning home. All cats and kittens must be vaccinated against feline enteritis and cat flu complex. As the vaccine only protects a cat for 12 months, we still require to bring her for annual booster. I think it is a traumatic experience for a kitten to have vaccination but I guess it is good for her!! That all to expect for vaccination....

Ego, a female feline - adoption & what to expect after that

My daughter adopted a kitten (2.5 months) from SPCA. We pay $65 to adopt her and this covers the cost of sterilisation, vaccination and microchipping. Initially she had spotted one that was cute but while we reached there, the kitten was already adopted by someone else. She decided to adopt the kitten which I found uncomely, didn't look cute at all. Furthermore she was a very active kitten and displayed alot of temperament, she meowed at you and tried to force open the cage. We were told that our whole family must be there to receive counselling before adoption can be made. I think the reason is to be realised by me later. It is a lifetime commitment with considerable responsibilities. A cat can live up to 20 years of age. Having a kitten is not easy. First of all, it is the droppings that we have to clear. She is a smart kitten, she knew how to use a cat litter tray. Each time she excretes, she will bury her droppings under the litter. No matter how she buried, the s

It is more blessed to give than to receive...

God loves a cheerful giver. I knew this quite well but sometimes I tell God, I also don't have enough how to give. I forgot that our God is such an almighty one, he has no lack. Based on this reasoning, I withhold my offerings and also not faithful in my giving. But what I don't understand is that God wants our heart ie. not to put money above him, it is not the offering matter but the heart matter. Acts 20 : 35 ... It is more blessed to give than to receive. Sometimes we realise our work is not fruitful because we are not willing to give. This principle not only applies to the christians but also govern the non-christians. I found many of my non-christian friends who are giver reaps alot of returns. This principle is universal. Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Do you want the blessing of God to pour down

Do you murmur??

We all love to murmur, it is inborn. I love the story of the Israelites. When Moses led them out of Egypt, they became thirsty and started to murmur. When they finally passed by a watering stop only to discover the water was bitter to the taste and undrinkable. Their murmurings now turned to open, angry complaint. Sometimes we also murmur along our Christian path and when our path grew even tougher, our murmur turn into open and angry complaint. I like Moses. Instead of murmuring along with the Israelites, he just cry out to the Lord. The Lord answered by showing him a piece of wood which, when he had thrown it into the water, made the waters of Marah sweet. What a simple solution, ie. less murmuring but more prayer!! It is easier said than none but I am on my path to learn this lesson and God bless all of you!!
