NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

Psalm 119:18 "Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your law." "Mom, what New Year's resolutions are you making this year?"my daughter asked at the first of the year. "I don't make New Year's resolutions, I only break them." I said. "You have to make at least one,"Ann said. "Listen to my list." She rambled through about a dozen. Not to be outdone by an eighteen-year old, I promised to make at least one resolution. First thing the next morning, as usual, I grabbed the newspaper and read about fatal accidents, drive-by-shootings, child abuse, and domestic violence. That's when I came up with my resolution. I resolved to change the way I begin each day. Every morning I've decided that the first imprint on my mind will be words that have stood the test of time - the encouraging eternal words of God's Word. Reading God's Word renews your mind and heart, lifting you out of what is, to what God has planned for

BRAIN/LIVER DAMAGING HABITS

I am clearing my emails and found this email dated very long ago. Some advices seem good to follow. Realise that many youngsters do not sleep early and wake up early. They also do not like to take breakfast and seem like this life-style is quite damaging to their health. Thus decided to include this in my blog. However, not sure how true but it is still better to have a healthy lifestyle because many diseases are life-style related. BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS 1. No Breakfast People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration. 2. Overeating It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power. 3. Smoking It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease. 4. High Sugar consumption Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with bra

English Language - isn't it funny?

Got it from my friend via email. Really funny so I put in the blog and hope you will get a good laugh. ONLY THE ENGLISH COULD HAVE INVENTED THIS LANGUAGE We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes, But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes. One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese, Yet the plural of moose should never be meese. You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice, Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice. If the plural of man is always called men, Then shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen? If I speak of my foot and show you my feet, And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet? If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth, Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth? Then one may be that, and three would be those, Yet hat in the plural would never be hose, And the plural of cat is cats, not cose. We speak of a brother and also of brethren, But though we say mother, we never say methren. Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and

Testing of our faith

The Bible tells us that our faith needs to be tested. James 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. Trouble, trials and tribulations challenge our faith and call it to the witness stand. Sometimes we pass the test and sometimes we fail the test. However, God desires us to pass the test. Abraham also failed many times but ultimately when God wanted him to offer up Isaac, he willingly do so without question asked. The Bible has revealed God's promises, ways and character to us. They are reliable, solid and clearly true. They do not change. However, when trouble come, how do I react? Am I able to cling to His promises:- Hebrews 13 5b For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Romans 8 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. God has a good purpose for

Are you anxious?

God desires that we trust Him. However, many things can cause us to worry. I am always encouraged by Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Prayer is a way to tell God our needs, our fear, our worry or concern. When we pray, we learn to trust God ie. we acknowledge He is the sovereign one, He knows what we need. He is perfectly capable of supplying everything we need. Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. On the other hand, worry doesn’t accomplish anything. Jesus tells us that we cannot add a single day to our life by worrying or can we make ourselves happier or whatever by worrying. Constant worry means we do not have our priorities straight. Jesus tells us, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be provided you.” When we pray, we learn to fill our minds wit

God is merciful

Do you know that God is a merciful God? The Bible tells me that He is merciful. Declare His word for his mercy endureth forever. When King David sinned greatly before God, he still chose to fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great than to fall into the hand of man. (2 Samuel 2:14). Although God punishes, he still show mercy when His people repented before Him. Exodus 34:6 The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Deuteronomy 4:31 For the Lord thy God is a merciful God. 2 Samuel 24:14 Let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great. 1 Chronicles 16:34; Psalm 106:1, 107:1, 118:1, 136:1; Jeremiah 33:11 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth forever. Psalm 25:8 Good and upright is the Lord. Psalm 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting. Psalm 103:

What is your plan?

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails. In the past, when you asked me what is my plan in life, I always have a list of things that I am going to do to achieve what I plan for but usually God is not in my plan. However, our God loved shaking things up in our life. He wants us to live a life that pleases Him. He has a very meaningful purpose for us and that is when Christ who is our life appears, we will appear with Him in glory. Col 3:1-4 We are therefore exhorted to seek those things which are above by setting our mind on it, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. When we set our mind on things above, the things of the earth will gradually fade into the background. Isn't it exciting to realise that He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good
