Pride

The Bible tells us that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6.
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD.. Prov 16:5a

Initially, I didn't quite understand why pride is an abomination to God. God is extremely disgusted with a proud man. As a christian, sometimes we can become spiritually proud and self-satisfied. We pride ourselves on living a decent life, on being able to conduct ourselves honorably in life - never doing some of the seriously immoral things. In pride and boastfulness, we often feel that we are better than other church members, we serve faithfully and we are not so prone to sin against God. Pride is subtle and can invade our heart and life and once it is at work, we began to live a life independent from God. We no longer realize the need to depend on Him to live a victorious life. We become far from God and no longer living in His presence under His care and protection. Pride is the main cause of Satan's downfall. It also brought about the downfall of the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. The Bible recorded that because of his pride, God in His mercy took away his kingdom and finally the King knew that the God of Israel is the only true God and He is in control of all things.

Below is a verse from Daniel 4:30 The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?”There are also many verses from the Bible that mentioned about "Pride".

Psalms 138:6 Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.

Proverbs 3:34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.

Proverbs 8:13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 16:18-19
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.

Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him..

Isaiah 5:21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

Isaiah 66:2
Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word."

Luke 16:15 He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight."

Prov:29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

He reached that milestone yesterday when he was called to the Bar during a mass ceremony at Nanyang Technological University. It was a far cry from his shaky start in life when drugs and gang activities led to over 10 years behind bars and 19 strokes of the cane. "This is the culmination of what I've been working towards for the last 10 years," he told The Sunday Times. "It's like waking up from a dream and finding out your dream has become reality." His life of crime began at the age of 14, and he was in and out of prison for offences that

He giveth more grace - a hymn by Annie J. Flint (1866-1932)

The author of the poem, Annie Johnson Flint, suffered with arthritis for 40 years. But that terrible affliction did not embitter her. And out of the crucible of her suffering came a new and beautiful understanding of the meaning of guidance expressed in these lovely words: "He giveth more grace" Tonight we sang this hymn and the lyrics are as follows:- He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater, He sendeth more strength as our labors increase; To added afflictions He addeth His mercy, To multiplied trials he multiplies peace. When we have exhausted our store of endurance, When our strength has failed ere the day is half done, When we reach the end of our hoarded resources Our Father’s full giving is only begun. His love has no limits, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men; For out of His infinite riches in Jesus He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again. The second stanza is experienced by many christians. We always come to a point where our en

This is the greenhouse also called a glasshouse or hothouse and is a building where plants are cultivated. From Wilkipedia: A greenhouse is a structure with a glass or plastic roof and frequently glass or plastic walls; it heats up because incoming solar radiation from the sun warms plants, soil, and other things inside the building faster than heat can escape the structure. Air warmed by the heat from hot interior surfaces is retained in the building by the roof and wall. These structures range in size from small sheds to very large buildings This is Butterhead lettuce.
